Jim Zimmerman

Jim Zimmerman has over 40 years of broad-based marketing and advertising experience on the client and agency side. Prior to starting The Zimmerman Group, Jim was Director of New Products and Business Development at Pillsbury. Jim has helped TZG clients launch over 200 new products and brands. He describes each client relationship as a marketing partnership, and he’s proud that the average client partnership exceeds 8 years.

Fun Fact:  Jim enjoys sharing his knowledge and expertise. He developed and taught a 3-day national seminar as well as teaching about new products at Columbia University and the University of Minnesota. He’s also a fan of classic old boats and serves on the Board of Directors for the Museum of Lake Minnetonka, which owns and operates the Steamboat Minnehaha.

Kathy Ashpole brings broad-based creative and production expertise to every client’s project. Intimately involved in numerous award-winning advertising campaigns, Kathy is equally proud of her work designing innovative sales materials, packaging designs, direct mail and email pieces, trade show booths and websites. In addition, she is a “human Rolodex” which allows her to source and produce everything from Chinese translations to puzzles and games, to Minnesota State Fair corn hats, and she loves the aroma of printing ink, almost as much as the smell of coffee.

Fun Fact: While growing up, her family pets – besides multiple dogs and cats – included 2 goats (given away after a tragic flower bed incident), a mini horse, a pig, an owl, 3 geese, multiple orphaned wild rabbits and various rodents – both domestic and wild. And in hindsight, with her last name, she probably shouldn’t have named her cat Harry.

Clearly Canola is a Canadian non-stick canola oil spray made for food service professionals. They came to The Zimmerman Group wanting to expand their sales into the United States and needed an eye catching video to send to potential clients as a way to introduce them to the Clearly Canola brand. We drew inspiration from our research about the need of real, healthy foods in the foodservice field and created this fun and fresh video.

SunButter Sunflower Butter is a delicious nut-free spread made from sunflowers seeds. It’s free from the top 8 allergens and is high in protein making it the perfect snack. Made in Fargo, North Dakota, from sunflower seeds grown by local farmers, SunButter is a national brand that can be found online and in retail stores including Walmart and Target.

SunButter is made in the USA at SunButter’s facilities in Fargo, North Dakota, that uses sunflower seeds grown by local farmers. SunButter is a national brand that can be found online and in retail stores including Walmart and Target.

TZG targeted parents with kids in peanut-free/peanut-aware schools, and soon we helped SunButter capitalize on the better-for-you market, which included a major brand repositioning and new creative. In addition to consumer marketing, we helped SunButter grow in the Foodservice and Ingredient business. The result, SunButter expanded awareness, usage, and achieved record sales growth.
